Today we have an interview with Michele Robb of The Perfect Fairytale Wedding Planning to discuss wedding planning, coordination, and how she can help you out on your wedding day.

Michele was born and raised in Orange County. She has had a passion and love for wedding planning since she was a teenager. While earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Public Relations, she further developed her passion for the industry as an assistant to a veteran wedding planner in 2007.
After receiving her wedding planning certification, Michele officially opened The Perfect Fairytale in March 2010. Michele expanded her expertise in wedding planning as Editor and Creative Director for The Roanoke Wedding Planner Magazine.

What common mistakes do you see couples making during the wedding planning process?

This is a hard one for me. I do my best to ensure that all of my couples do not make any mistakes when planning their wedding. One occurrence I can think of is when a couple hires me as their “day of planner,” which is when I help the couple finalize their wedding details the last month prior to the wedding day. Oftentimes, I hear my brides say that they made too many decisions too quickly and they aren’t happy with certain decisions they made.

What’s the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?

To hire a wedding planner! We can help relieve all of the stress of planning a wedding so you don’t need to worry about a single detail!

What don’t couples know about Wedding Planning that they need to know?

Most couples do not realize how much thought and detail goes into a wedding planner’s job or even the amount of hours we put in behind the scenes. We double check and triple check every individual detail leading up to the wedding and on the actual wedding day. I spend anywhere from 10-100+ hours on every wedding I plan and 12 hours on site on the wedding day!

What questions should couples be asking you about your services that they don’t know to ask?

A couple should ask their potential wedding planner if there are any hidden fees or “add ons” that aren’t listed in their standard packages. We always like to be up front and honest with all of our brides to avoid any confusion on this matter.

What’s the most unusual or memorable wedding you ever did?

It is impossible to pick an absolute favorite wedding memory out of the six years I have had my company! One special memory that is coming to mind is when one of our bride’s had her father, who was quadriplegic, walk her a few steps down the aisle. Her father was in a tragic accident a few years prior, but he had been working very hard on his physical therapy and was able to stand with a walker and walk his daughter down the aisle for a few steps. He also stood up for a minute to dance with her at their father/daughter dance during the reception. It was very touching!

We understand that there are other wedding planners to choose from, but The Perfect Fairytale truly offers something special. We assist our brides and grooms from the beginning to the end of the planning process. We consider our brides and grooms to be close friends who are near and dear to our hearts.
